The Department of Energy has announced new building technologies initiatives. These are aimed at reducing energy consumption within new buildings and creating new ways to reduce energy consumption in older buildings. Building owners and managers want to save money, reduce pollution, and improve operations within their facilities. The Department of Energy estimates that if we cut the amount of energy used within buildings by 20% we could save approximately $80 billion annually on energy bills and help create more jobs.
