Those of you who have experienced a S4 Live Demo or attended a Boot Camp may have heard me tell the story of one of our integrator partners whose project matured to the point where all of the legacy N2 devices were replaced with current technology BACnet field devices. They were embarrassed to ask what they should do with the S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Routers. My response was, “Whatever you want. You paid for the devices, and they did exactly what they were designed to do. So, decommissioning them is the ultimate compliment and testament to their success.”
The Shoppes at Buckland Hills Mall is another example of this ultimate success story. When the initial integration was completed a few years ago by a Controlco branch office, we published this case study: https://www.thes4group.com/case-studies/the-shoppes-at-buckland-hills-mall. The project at that time was considered a great success story for everyone involved. Controlco’s relationship with the Mall owner and operator continued and was enhanced by this success. Controlco continued to grow and expand while supporting this project. One interesting development that happened about a year ago is that this branch operation became part of the Controlco spin out of their integration division into a separate company, OTIPRO. The rest of the story is that the S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Routers have done their job, the legacy N2 field devices have been replaced with current generation BACnet devices, and the N2 Routers are being decommissioned. See this OTI case study for the details http://otipro.com/master-systems-integrator/case-studies/s4group.html.
