U&S Services sent three of their technical specialists to the S4 Group to learn and master the installation and ongoing support of the S4 Open: BACnet-N2 Router. While their experience ranged from 2 weeks to several years, each came with lots of questions and a desire to master the technology. Kevin, who had the most experience, wanted to learn “how this thing works.” Chris, second in overall experience, saw a benefit in hands on training even though “webinars are good for information”. Vinnie, a fresh graduate, wanted to understand “how to set up the network.”
A critical part of the boot camp is for each attendee to install, configure and trouble shoot the device. Learning the “best practices” of installations helps to cut down the learning curve and leads to a better field installation. Chris summed up this part of the training with “Now I know what the S4 product can do, and what it can’t do.”
Chris, Kevin and Vinny focus during the boot camp lab time.
The timing of the attendance at boot camp was tied to a new project, where the team will be installing the S4 devices in a customer site. First projects can be daunting, but after the training the students agreed that, as Kevin put it – “When the box is given to me I know how to install it. This training simplifies the process.”
